Who am I and why did I create the blog?

Hello.  First, wanted to say thank you and welcome to my blog. I'll go by DFW Dad as I would not to remain anonymous (Like this blog is going to become huge way day... keep dreaming).  I live in the DFW area, married, and we have a baby boy together.  I really enjoy working out, sports (soccer and Manchester United specifically), cars (BMW and Porsche specifically), and watches (the type I can't afford specifically). So the question still remains, why did I create this blog. There are several reason. Well, I recently relocated to the DFW area, left all my friends and family, and work from home. Also, having a young child, you really don't have much time to yourself anyways. So lost contact with a lot of my friends before I  moved.  After the move, I spent more time just staying home and watching TV or Youtube (ultimately fueling my watch and car craze more.. besides the point...).  I really spent a lot of time talking to my wife about cars and watches and I could tell it wa

Home Garage: Our Home

Last night while watching a bunch of Youtube, I came across some lift videos.  Of course I have always been interested in lifts, who doesn't dream about it?  It got me thinking about if this might be the best solution for when the next car comes into the family. So for a bit of background, the wife was relocated out here for work last year.  That meant looking for a new house. Our previous house was brand new, nice, but we definitely learned what we do not like.  So this worked out for us, the relocation package was great and made the move affordable (maybe even profitable).  So here are the things we were looking for and what we ended up with. 1. Location.  Wife is originally from the area and her parents still lived in the metroplex.  Grandma was going to be watching our child, so we needed to be pretty close to make it easy for her to come watch the kid every day.  Fortunately, we found a house in the same city about a 10 minute drive away.  There are many benefits of living

WatchBlog: SIHH watches I want

1/17/2019: SIHH is over.  Do you really need to read more about the watches that released during SIHH?  I mean there are much more qualified opinions and eloquent writers that have expressed their opinions.  Well lucky you, I am going to talk about the watches that I liked (and will never buy because they have an outrageous price tag...)  I won't be going into any of the specs, that is readily available via a quick Google search.  This will just be a list of why and what I liked. 1. Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 I am a HUGE RO fan... like I would literally kill for a ROC.  But I also think that ROO looks a bit tacky... So these were a treat for me as they seem to be a bit more understated... for an AP.  So there are 6 watches that were released.  Obviously the coolest looking is the Tourbillon Openworked but my personal favorite is actually going to be the Perpetual Calendar. My favorite complication is a perpetual calendar so I am a bit biased. Even an entry level Swiss perpe

M5: BootMod3!!!

Setting up BM3 Just a quick small update. So it happened yesterday! I got a great deal on the tune and set it up yesterday.  I had bought that laptop off of amazon for like 150 bucks... It's a piece of crap but all I have to do is watch some youtube and tune my car.  So it should work fine. Back to the tune, I set it up with the competition package tune (it's free).  Once my down pipes come in I will set it up with stage 2 and will have before and after reactions as well as sound clips... For now, no real change.

M5: Upcoming upgrades/ maintenance

1/16/2019: So what is upcoming on the M5 you ask?  Okay, I know... NO ONE is reading my blogs...  Anyways... Currently, from what I could tell I bought the M5 and it was completely stock.  I was planning on keeping it that way.  I took my car over to Cedar Performance in Downtown for a 50k service and oil change just to make sure I was on a clean slate with the car. Of course during my discussions with the owner I had purchased RK Autowerks (SP?) carbon fiber intakes. Why pay for over priced CF intake when I could have paid half as much for down pipes that would provide much more performance gains?  Because I got them for cheap and they look so damn good...  And now I'm hooked.... I have found someone on the forums that will get me a good deal on BootMod3 (sounds like Boot mode) license. So that may be coming in the next couple days.  However, the wife said I would get down pipes for my birthday.  (Yay Wife!!).  That means stage 2.  If you are not aware of how BM3 works, you get 1

M5: My new (to me) 2013 BMW M5 (F10)

1/15/2019 I have always been interested in cars, but I would probably consider myself an admirer more than a true car fan.  I was never the type of guy that could tell you the specs of every single new BMW or Porsche. Nor was I the type to be able to even change my own oil.  I always had an interest though and if I ever bought a car to do modification, I would.  I had a 335i that I lightly modded when I was younger... Anyways, now that I'm older and have a little bit more freedom both with my time and financially I decide that I would start trying to do my own maintenance and modifications (with in reason).  This decision came after I bought the car and bought a carbon fiber intake which I had the shop install for me.... Anyways, I am going to use this a journal for all the maintenance and future modification I do.
