Home Garage: Our Home

Last night while watching a bunch of Youtube, I came across some lift videos.  Of course I have always been interested in lifts, who doesn't dream about it?  It got me thinking about if this might be the best solution for when the next car comes into the family.

So for a bit of background, the wife was relocated out here for work last year.  That meant looking for a new house. Our previous house was brand new, nice, but we definitely learned what we do not like.  So this worked out for us, the relocation package was great and made the move affordable (maybe even profitable).  So here are the things we were looking for and what we ended up with.

1. Location.  Wife is originally from the area and her parents still lived in the metroplex.  Grandma was going to be watching our child, so we needed to be pretty close to make it easy for her to come watch the kid every day.  Fortunately, we found a house in the same city about a 10 minute drive away.  There are many benefits of living close; baby sitting, food, and just general support.

2. Condition/quality. We did not want to get into a run down house. It had to look generally nice.  We found one that we really liked, just needed new flooring and a couple bathroom remodels. We put a decent amount of money updating the house but feel like it was money well spent.

3. No POOL!  See picture below of our pool....

Maintenance cost and having a young child (safety hazard) as our main reasons for not wanting a pool.

4. 3 car garage. Welp... we got a 2 car garage with a nice long 3 car driveway.  Right now we only have 2 cars so not a huge issue. I am working on the third car, which needs to be garaged as well... Considered doing a carport.  This would also be great for washing the car and staying out of the blazing sun during the summer. The wife vetoed that real quick. Says they're ugly...

Tying back to the beginning of this post, a lift.  I feel like this would be a great option.  You can generally find some for around 2500-3000. Would also need to get a new garage door opener.  So, looking at 4k with install? This would also help in my efforts to do a lot of the work on my car.  Sounds like we have a winner!

Well off to measure the garage and see if this is feasible.

UPDATE: the garage ceiling is not high enough to park a car under a lifted car... Hope's and dreams of a lift over.
